In this post I’m going to show you some simple Infographics and Illustrations about some Fashion terms and examples of designers, leaders, and looks with the purpose of create a Visual Dictionary where we can learn and improve our fashion knowledge.

A designer's signature style: Christian Louboutin

ree

Nobody in this world can resist to wear a pair of glorious shoes of Christian Louboutin, a French shoe designer whose creations—identifiable by their brilliant red soles—were sold in exclusive upscale boutiques in major cities worldwide.

In 1992 Louboutin launched his own business in Paris, where he continued to use the boutique and design atelier as his headquarters. He developed an unmistakable signature by giving all of his shoes bright red soles. A typical pair of his luxury shoes might also have a stiletto heel and upper parts of coloured leather or exotic reptile skins; prices averaged about $800 a pair.

A Style Leader: Michelle Obama

ree

Michelle Obama brought a revolution to the First Lady attire. She kept it traditional when it was required but brought in her own panache when she could. She donned bold prints, experimented with textures and dared to go sleeveless. She went where no First Lady had gone and sported strapless and off-shoulder looks as well.

Without any doubt Michelle Obama was a First Lady like no other. There’s a down-to-earth charm to her that was not seen in other First Ladies, all of which is reflected in her unique sense of style wearing beautiful outfits that maintain her classiness but make her approachable too.

A Fashion Look: Gothic

ree

Definitely, this style is the Dark Side of fashion. Mysterious yet romantic, a gothic look is more a way of thinking than a style. Fashion is something personal, it's an outline that only those who love it can complete with leathers, laces, metals, and shades of black to bring to this style a touch of glamour and extra highlights. Gothic fashion is born where music and literature play a vital role; personally, I relate this style with all movies of Tim Burton.

A Bohemian Element: Coachella Festival

ree

When I think about a bohemian style, immediately comes to my mind, fringes, feathers, leather and suede fabrics, light maxi dresses, mini shorts, booties, and a lot of bracelets and accessories. But the most fascinating is, where can I find all these things together? Of course, at Coachella Festival. Every April, this annual event is celebrated toward the California desert and is so popular since this mega carnival brings celebrities, models, bloggers, fashion forecasters and all bohemian souls to enjoy a lot of concerts, art, food and all free spirit vibes.

A Market Segment: The Caribbean

We all know that Market segments are categorized by gender, age-related, geographic, lifestyle, among others. In this post I chose to travel (in my mind) to the Caribbean to get some inspiration and get some items that are a must have when traveling to the beach, and what we should expect: Music, Piñas Colas, and a lot of fun!

A Celebrity Icon: Victoria Beckham

ree

From Posh Spice to one of the most successful business woman and fashion designers, Victoria Beckham has developed a fascinating taste in her style. Today she is not just a celebrity, but a style icon who has gained the respect of the famously hard-to-please fashion industry and an OBE for her contribution to the fashion industry over the past 20 years.

A Model: Tyra Banks

ree

From Victoria's Secret to 'America's Next Top Model, Tyra Banks has built an empire around her gorgeous good looks. Personally, she is one of my favorites models because she has earned with hard work and a lot of talent the title of “supermodel”.

In the beginning of her career Tyra was told she was too big for the runway. Since that was obviously unfair, she always fought back and maintained her niche position in the industry, inspiring many other models to do the same. Also she was a pioneer for African-American models becoming the first-ever African-American to be featured on the cover of the Victoria's Secret catalogue. Moreover, she has given a legacy to young models inspiring them with the show America's Next Top Model.

Tyra Banks is one fashion model who actually makes a great role model for feminists who are constantly told they are too angry, too demanding, and have too much drive. Never change, Tyra!

A Fiber or Fabric: Gingham

ree

Gingham fabric, recognized by its signature checked pattern of white interspersed with a color, is a light and bright summer staple that has been around for so many years. We can see how our cities are decorated with this integral part of the spring, and summer style landscape. We see Gingham fabric as a dress shirt, a beautiful dress, a pocket square, a table cloth... even that apron we toss on when we are barbecuing. The colored checks add a bold touch to a look that can take us anywhere.
